The UK&'s take-home beer market has gained a significant new force this week through a joint venture between two of the countries&' key brewers.
Wells & Young&'s Brewing Co will brew all of Young&'s beers alongside those of Bedford-based Charles Wells.
Young&'s chairman John Young said the move would help to safeguard the company&'s future. Plans for the sale of its Ram Brewery site are under way.
A spokeswoman for Charles Wells said its modern brew site would still have the capacity for further expansion.
The new Bedford-based
firm will be 60% owned by Charles Wells with Young&'s holding a 40% share.
