Popular Bristol ale Butcombe Bitter is being poured into bottles and rolled out to regional Asda stores following a new brewing deal with Fuller's.

Butcombe has been available on draught in pubs and clubs in and around the Bristol area for the past 30 years but is hitting selected Asda outlets this month to capitalise on the renewed consumer enthusiasm for premium bottled ale.

The Bristol brewery has doubled its warehousing capacity over the course of this year to cope with the growth of the business.

"It would be nice to one day sell Butcombe on a national scale and with the new facilities we now have the capability to do so," said managing director Guy Newell.

"Supermarket buyers quite like people who have the balls to invest in this climate."

The 4% bitter will be brewed in London by Fuller's.
