Constellation Brands has reported a 25% jump in full-year sales boosted by its acquisition of Aussie wine group BRL Hardy.

For the year to February 29, pre-tax profit was up 3% to $344.4m, while sales rose to $4.47bn.

Sales of Australian and Californian wine in the UK saw overall wine sales up by 11%, while the UK wholesale business grew 21% driven by increased market share and the addition of new accounts.

As well as the BRL Hardy deal, figures were boosted by an 11% rise in beer and spirits sales, which hit $1.15bn and helped by the imported lager Corona in the US.

Constellation boss Richards Sands said: “We are well poised to fully exploit our strengths in product breadth and organisational scale to continue to deliver profitable growth.”
