Aussie winemaker BRL Hardy has accepted a $1.9bn offer from US drinks group Constellation Brands to create the world's largest wine company.

BRL Hardy, with brands such as Banrock Station, Nottage Hill and Hardys Stamp would give Constellation access to the growing Australian wine export market to Europe and the US.

Constellation which owns UK wholesaler Matthew Clark has denied reports that Blackthorn cider would be axed in favour of its wine portfolio including Stowells of Chelsea.
