A new company created by people behind Islay distillery Bruichladdich has been set up to offer rare, single-distillery rums.

Pitched as "serious rum for the true spirit connoisseur", the Renegade Rum Company is sourcing rums from around the world and aging and bottling them at the Bruichladdich distillery.

Four rums are offered including a 16-year-old rum from Guyana, rsp £38, and a 15-year-old Jamaican rum, rsp £42. "Rum and whisky are dominated by multinationals, big marketing and blended spirits for mixers, so we decided to explore rum to see if we could create an equivalent of a single malt," said a spokesman.
