Ex-Loseley managing director Neil Burchell has been appointed MD of speciality cheese producer Futura Foods.

Burchell, who joins just a month after the sale of Loseley’s ice cream brands to Beechdean Farmhouse Dairy, said his focus would be to develop the predominantly own-label company’s branded focus. “I believe there is a real opportunity to establish a strong brand in this market sector,” he said.

Futura founder John Svensson, who takes on the new role of chairman, added: “I am proud to have attracted someone of Neil’s calibre to the business, and I look forward to him leading the way as we move to our new future.”

Futura currently supplies a range of Greek, Cypriot, Italian, Spanish and Northern European cheeses to retailers such as Tesco, Morrisons and Waitrose, as well as manufacturers and wholesalers.
