Marketing problems last season following the closure of the Cyprus Potato Marketing Board, which resulted in competition among exporters, have led to major buyers meeting to find a solution to a similar situation developing this year, reports the British Potato Council.
The first of the island’s winter crop has begin to arrive, although planting of the main spring crop is lighter because of the poor results this year.
Meanwhile, plant health problems and the reduction in the number of exporters are likely to mean a lighter crop from Egypt.
