Belvoir Fruit Farms has marked its 30th anniversary with an ‘elderflower festival’.
The event, which also celebrated the end of the British harvest, took place last Sunday at Belvoir Cricket Club in Leicestershire, with more than 1,800 people attending. The cordial and pressé producer had recruited 2013 Great British Bake Off winner Frances Quinn to showcase “the versatility of the quintessentially English drink”.
Frances also judged a cake-baking competition and ran a ‘baking surgery’ where she answered attendees’ baking questions.
Producing Belvoir, which is hand-made to a traditional recipe, requires more than 50 tonnes of elderflowers per year. The festival was partly a thank-you to the people who took part in the time-consuming process of hand picking the elderflowers, said the business.
