Sales have inched up 0.5% at independent CTN chain Finlays Newsagents.

The retailer, which has 21 stores in North East England, said sales rose from £10.72m to £10.77m in the year to 26 March 2011, in accounts filed at Companies House.

“Despite difficult economic conditions, the company has performed well and maintained trading levels in a period that has seen many names disappear,” said director William Gandy in the accounts.
