Handmade confectionery company Gnaw has launched a new gift range as it eyes up export expansion.
The four lines in the new Great British Nibbles range comprises butter fudge, lemon coconut ice, chocolate-coated honeycomb, and salted cashew nut brittle (rsp: £4.99/150-200g). Gnaw has also added a salted caramel & peanut bar to its chocolate bar range.
The Norfolk-based company, which set up the chocolate business in 2011, is set to expand exports to Singapore, Malaysia and South Korea in September. It currently exports to 25 countries as well as supplying products in the UK to independent retailers, garden centres and the East of England Co-op. It recently doubled its listing with BP service stations to 176 forecourts and will launch into 220 Central England Co-op stores from August. The business has grown by 50% in the last year, the company said, and expects to turnover £750k this year.
“We wanted to eat chocolate that tasted of things we wouldn’t expect – like banoffee pie or lemon meringue. So we conjured up some interesting flavour combinations ourselves and quickly found a niche market both at home and overseas, where ‘British-made’ is very popular,” founder Matt Legon said. “Our new Great British Nibbles range is ideal for the expanding gift market.”
