The Health Lottery recorded a pre-tax loss of £28.5m in 2011, according to results filed this week at Companies House.

Sales since its October launch were £10m, but it owed £49m to owner Richard Desmond’s Northern & Shell group.

Since launch, the report claims, THL has raised £15m for good causes. At the current rate of sale, sales will be £110m less than the planned £250m target and it will fall £22m short of its £50m first-year target for good causes.
