“New Doritos Heatburst. It’s a bit like getting a baby dragon.” Rather hard to prove but, as opening lines go, few are more arresting.

It’s part of a voiceover that accompanies a heartwarming depiction of dragon fostering, in which the cute critter is seen on activities including cycling, golfing and go-karting with a blokey new pal. Of course, the little one’s propensity to breathe fire proves in some instances problematic (though it’s shown to have its benefits, too).

“At first it’s all joy, but soon things are going to heat up,” we’re told. It’s a neat way of describing the new chip’s characteristics, the fire-breathing scenes are original and witty, and the scaly infant makes a memorable mascot. Hot stuff, Doritos.
