Tetleys

Carlsberg-owned ale brand Tetley’s has unveiled a duo of bottled ales.

The first bottled NPD from the brand in four years, No. 3 Pale Ale (4.2% abv) and Tetley’s Golden (4% abv) have rolled out into Ocado, BP, Nisa, Spar and numerous cash & carry outfits. Carlsberg did not give an rsp.

No. 3 Pale Ale is based on a recipe for Tetley’s original pale ale, which was brewed over 150 years ago, while Golden is a more “contemporary” blonde beer which Tetley’s said “blends cutting-edge hop varieties to create a sprightly, thirst-quenching citrus beer”.

The new formats “offer great value and a high-quality ale, coupled with a contemporary look and feel”, it said.

Having embarked on a major rebrand earlier this year, 2018 marked “an exciting new chapter for the brand”, added brand manager Emily Hudson.

It comes as the rebranded Tetley’s Original Bitter has had a solid year in the supermarkets. It grew its value sales by almost one fifth (19%) to £2.85m.

However, Tetley’s Smoothflow, its higher-selling SKU, had £625k wiped from its value, which fell to £4.9m [Nielsen 52 w/e 8 September 2018].
