Cadbury Schweppes has announced plans to cut 7,500 jobs by 2011.

This is part of a company-wide cost reduction plan that will also see about 15% of its manufacturing sites close, said a spokesman from the company.

The company has yet to announce whether any of its UK plants will be affected.

In a trading statement, released today (19 June), Cadbury Schweppes also said it likely that the drinks arm would be sold off as part of ongoing plans to split the business in two.

In a separate statement, Cadbury said it had made a strong start to 2007, with revenues for the three confectionery regions in the first quarter ahead by 9%.

Interim results will be announced on 1 August.
