Cadbury Schweppes could reportedly face prosecution following last year's £30m salmonella scare.

The confectionery giant is likely to face charges of producing food unfit for human consumption and for failing to alert the authorities about the extent of the problem in good time, according to reports in the Guardian.

“Things are coming to a head and evidence is being finalised. It is now a matter of dotting the I's and crossing the t's, but barring any last minute technicalities, we are confident that we will be going ahead,” a source told the paper.
