Cadbury Schweppes has boosted its presence in the fast growing premium soft drinks sector, buying Nantucket juice maker Nantucket Allserve. Nantucket makes cocktails, 100% juice products and not-from-concentrate squeezed nectars under the Nantucket Nectars brand and will be integrated into Cadbury subsidiary Snapple Beverage Group. The size of the deal has not been disclosed, but analysts estimate it was probably less than $100m. Nantucket clocked up sales of $59m in 2001. The purchase is the latest in a series of deals by international giants Cadbury Schweppes, PepsiCo and Coca-Cola to buy alternative, juice based and still soft drinks as growth tails off in the US fizzy drinks sector. The deal will also enable Cadbury to sell its Snapple range through Nantucket's network. {{NEWS }}
