Cadbury Schweppes has taken over confectionery brand Green & Black’s but has confirmed the organic chocolate company will be run as a standalone business.
Cadbury Schweppes acquired a minority 5% stake in Green & Black’s in 2002, and its investment helped fund an extensive repackaging exercise.
Green & Black’s founder Craig Sams will continue as president of the company. Sams, who is also chairman of the Soil Association, said: “I am delighted that my vision for premium high cocoa organic chocolate is entering the next stage of its successful evolution. Our businesses share a commitment to ethical values and I am confident we will be able to bring these positive messages to a much wider international audience.”
