Cadbury has become the first food and drink sponsor for the London 2012 Olympics. While Coca-Cola and McDonald’s are long-term tier one Olympic sponsors, the confectionery company is the first to sign up for tier two support.

This deems Cadbury official confectionery and ice cream supporter for London 2012 in a deal launched by double Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Adlington this week. In return, Cadbury will be the only brand of confectionery and ice cream on sale in the Olympic Park.

The company also has the right to use the London 2012 logo on its brands. “London 2012 is a huge opportunity to celebrate everything great about Britain and bring local communities together,” said Cadbury’s chief executive Todd Stitzer. “We look forward to building on all this through our existing community partnerships.”
