The growing popularity of soft drinks has left the tea category seeking sympathy and the coffee fixture in need of a wake-up call.

This year, it looks like they might get a little of what they need. Hot drinks volumes are up 0.4%, partly due to shoppers buying more bags and jars on each trip because of the emphasis on deals and promotions.
