Camembert cheeses imported by Anthony Rowcliffe & Son and sold by a number of retailers including Waitrose have been withdrawn because of E.coli fears.

The Foods Standards Agency said that there were concerns about possible contamination with E.coli 026, a strain that can cause severe food poisoning.

The affected cheeses, which are made in France by Laiterie Fromagerie du Val d’Ay-Establissement REAUX, are: Reaux’s Gaslonde Camembert (250g packs), Camembert de Normandie Th. Reaux (250g packs) and Reaux’s Gaslonde Camembert 1kg which is normally sold over the cheese counter.
