Dousing your chips, steak and burgers in black stuff might not sound appetising, but Heinz and Diageo are hoping their latest collaboration, HP Guinness Sauce, will make the case for it.

Out early next month, the stout-flavoured sauce (rsp: £1.99 for 475g) would appeal to scratch cooks as well as HP sauce enthusiasts, said Heinz.

Serving suggestions, such as adding the sauce to gravy or stew, will be displayed on-pack.
