Campbell Soup Company has revealed that it is considering selling its businesses in the UK and Ireland.

The company, which owns brands including Oxo, Homepride and Batchelors, said that it was exploring strategic alternatives, including possible divestiture, following a review of its international portfolio.

Douglas R Conant, Campbell's president and chief executive officer, said: "Our portfolio in the UK and Ireland includes some strong brands, but it is highly fragmented and has not met our company's growth expectations."

He added: "It is time to explore strategic alternatives as we strive to optimise the value of these businesses to our shareowners."
