Shipping delays hit imports Shipment delays from Thailand are adding to the problems of pineapple importers who are now reporting shortages and in some cases, out of stock positions. For some months, packers have been warning of problems but until now distributors have managed to keep up with demand. Contracts with Swaziland are still outstanding but with canners switching to grapefruit production, there will be no further offers. Indonesia and the Philippines are ongoing suppliers but political instability makes importers hesitant to rely on regular availability. Prices are set to increase further due to the overall supply problems, with little relief until early next year. {{CANNED GOODS }}
