The industry's grocery charity, Caravan, is set to benefit from two runners in Sunday’s Flora London Marathon who won entry places through a competition in The Grocer magazine.

Unilever Bestfoods UK, the maker of Flora, gave both winners the chance to run in London Marathon on the condition found sponsorship for Caravan.

It’s the first time that Gary Sullivan of Giant Graphics, Southfields and Harry Newbould who works for Henry Newbould Ltd based in Middlesborough have run the London Marathon. Both aim to raise about £500 for Caravan.

Communications manager for Caravan, Helen Arnold, said: “We’re very grateful for the support Caravan is receiving during this year’s Flora London Marathon, and look forward to congratulating the runners on their achievement.”

GrocerToday editor, Chris Fletcher, has had to pull out of the Marathon after rupturing his achilles tendon in training last weekend. His sponsors though have agreed to still pledge their money to good causes.
