Volume sales of Chantenay carrots from Nottinghamshire-based co-op Fresh Growers are expected to achieve year-on-year growth of 60% in the 12 months to June 2006, said the company.
Fresh Growers’ volumes increased from 2,500 tonnes in the first full growing year of 2001/2 to 8,000 tonnes in the 2004/5 season, despite no stocks being available for three months because they had sold out.
At the halfway point in the current season, as many Chantenay are said to have been sold as in the whole of previous season.
Fresh Growers has just repackaged its carrots with Chantenay branding.
