Jordans has today announced that it intends to use 100% certified sustainable palm oil (CSPO) in its breakfast cereals by the end of the year.
Jordans uses a small quantity of blended rape seed oil and palm oil in some of its baked products as an alternative to artificial preservatives.
Sustainable palm oil was previously not available in a blend with rape seed oil.
“We needed to find a supplier capable of purchasing segregated CSPO and blending this with rape seed oil,” said Jordans’ David Webster.
“We are now able to secure a fully certified sustainable supply of blended palm oil, which means that we will be able to move to using CSPO well ahead of our own deadline of 2012 and hopefully by the summer of this year.”
