The Sea Fish Industry Authority (Seafish) said Asda, Iceland, Morrisons, Sainsbury, Tesco and Waitrose would all be supporting the event with a series of promotions.
Seafish consumer marketing executive Andy Gray said the support being shown by retailers highlighted the importance of the campaign.
“Seafood Week is the UK’s biggest celebration of seafood and every year grows bigger and better. Businesses really benefit from getting involved, with increased sales. Their participation also reflects supermarket dedication to satisfying consumers’ growing appetite for seafood.”
Running under the banner ‘Feeling Good with Seafood’, the events being run by the supermarkets will be used to highlight the variety of seafood available to consumers.
Seafood Week, now in its fifth year, will be fronted by TV celebrity Carol Vorderman.
