Tesco has announced plans to open up to 15 new Jack’s discount stores across the UK within the next six months and it it currently recruiting for the next five stores. The first two stores will open tomorrow (20 September) in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire and Immingham, Lincolnshire.

The retailer says the current sites “make use of excess Tesco space” and “the stores to follow will include a mix of entirely new sites, sites adjacent to existing Tesco stores, and a small number of converted Tesco stores.”

No official announcement has been made about where the other stores are going to be, but Tesco has started the recruitment process for general assistants in five new locations. Here’s where they are:

Rubery, B45 9JL

The Grocer understands the Tesco Metro on New Rd in Birmingham will be one of the next locations the retailer intends to open as a Jack’s. The new store would be less than a mile away from a Co-op and a Farmfoods.

St Helens, WA9 4BZ

On the site of another Tesco Metro, this location is part of Four Acre Ln shopping centre in Clock Face, Merseyside. This site puts a Jack’s store in direct competition with Aldi, located less than a mile away.

Castle Bromwich, B34 7EH

This Birmingham Tesco Metro on Timberley Lane is next door to an Iceland Foods and within less than a mile of a Morrisons, Aldi and Farmfoods.

Edge Hill, L7 3HE

This Liverpool Tesco Metro site is located on Overton St which is under a mile away from an Iceland and neighbours the Asda Sefton Park superstore, which is just one and a half miles away.

Middlewich, CW10 9BL

This Tesco Superstore on Wheelock Street is less than a mile away from a Tesco Express and a stone’s throw from Lidl and Morrisons stores.
