The Federation of Wholesale Distributors has linked with CGA Strategy to provide “a robust read of the market” for foodservice members.
The venture comes at a time when the foodservice market is in “an incredibly exciting phase of development”, according to CGA commercial director Tom Lynch.
The first published figures from the monthly reporting programme indicates a 7.1% upswing in sales of chilled food and a 21.9% increase in drinks across the wholesale foodservice sector in October compared with the same period last year.
It also shows the combined contributors to the statistics driving growth in sales with MAT value climbing 6.6% to October.
The FWD said the tie-up created a performance benchmark solution for wholesalers “to track and contextualise their sales against a relevant competitor set”.
It said the reports also created a barometer of wholesale channel performance, to provide greater understanding of market dynamics and opportunities.
James Bielby, chief executive of the FWD added: “Foodservice offers good growth opportunities for both suppliers and wholesalers, but in order for stakeholders to take full advantage, they have to be able to measure the effectiveness of their investment in the channel.”
