Delivery speed is one of six key elements for ‘omnichannel’ success, a report by GS1 UK and Planet Retail has found.

The report - Delighting the Modern Shopper - found 50% of shoppers said their choice of retailer was influenced by the option of same or next-day delivery.

The six key elements identified were: provide a seamless online experience; empower smartphone users; create a compelling in-store environment; contextualise and personalise shopping; use social media to influence purchasing decisions; and use fulfilment capabilities as a differentiator.

“Getting the final mile wrong could result in lost sales,” said Planet Retail research director Malcolm Pinkerton.
