Hong Kong residents will be able to sample Morrisons ambient and general merchandise lines through the website britishessentials.hk

Morrisons has struck a new wholesale supply agreement with Hong Kong-based online British supermarket britishessentials.hk.

From this week, residents of Hong Kong will have access to 600 Morrisons ambient and general merchandise lines for home delivery via the website.

Morrisons said it was planning to extend the range to include fresh and frozen products.

The products currently available on the site include sauces, pasta, cereals, tea and coffee, as well as household cleaning products.

A can of Morrisons garden peas is priced at HKD10, the equivalent of £1, while a 2-litre bottle of Morrisons cola costs HKD17. In the UK Morrisons is currently charging 41p for the garden peas and 54p for the cola.

“This agreement is another step on our journey to make Morrisons a broader business and make Morrisons products available to even more customers,” said Morrisons wholesale director James Badger.

Morrisons’ wholesale strategy is focused on driving incremental sales through capital light partnerships with third parties while leveraging its vertically integrated food production operations.

The wholesale arm currently includes its high profile partnership with Amazon as well as a supply agreement with forecourt operator Rontec. In March Morrisons said it was expanding its trial of Morrisons Daily convenience stores on Rontec forecourts to 50 sites.
