A Danish speciality cherry wine that was once a staple cocktail bar ingredient is poised for a revival in the UK.

Cherry aperitif Kirsberry, which has become more prominent through its rediscovery in cocktail venues such as the Nordic bar, will be launched by importer Malcolm Cowen, priced at £7.99.

The drink, which has a warm cherry flavour and aromas tinged with almond, occupies a strong position in Danish cuisine and traditional recipes.

Chairman Rupert Wilkins said: "There is a constant demand for this product, which we expect to grow substantially in the coming year."
