The Chilean wine industry is planning to maintain a major UK presence despite the closure of its UK trade office at the end of last year. The Chileans represent 5.8% of this country's wine sales volumes and they want to build on this. Vistamar export manager Jaime Merino said: "The wineries wanted more activities focused on the trade rather than on limited numbers of consumers. "Now is the time to develop Chile's reputation and find an icon to represent the country." He said UK consumers found Chilean wines confusing because there were different qualities at the same price. "This year we will be more organised and play a more active part." {{DRINKS }}
