Sir; I would like to correct a quote attributed to Roger Manning, director general of the Chilean Fresh Fruit Association ­ Europe, in Only fittest will survive new age' (The Grocer, October 7, p23). Manning actually said, in a press release issued by the CFFA-E on September 30: "It is our view that our key southern hemisphere competitors currently lack unity ­ by working together, Chile can succeed and build itself a considerable competitive advantage." He at no point in the release questioned the unity of Chilean growers, the strength of which was illustrated beyond doubt by the unanimous backing of all sectors of the Chilean industry given to the country's Good Agricultural Practices programme, launched last month in Santiago.
