Exports of Chilean hass avocados are set to reach record levels this year thanks to better weather.

The South American country expects to export 8,000 tonnes of hass to the UK this year, 11% more than the previous best in the 2006/07 season, the Chilean Hass Avocado Association confirmed. The country's avocado groves had now recovered from two years of bad weather, leading to increased volumes, it added.

As the Chilean season is close to finishing, shipments were unaffected by last week's earthquake.
