Ambitious plans have been made for a new range of premium Chilean wines launched by Matthew Clark this week. The collection, from the Veramonte winery in the Casablanca Valley, was previewed at the Chilean trade tasting in London. Matthew Clark also introduced it to its Grants of St James sales force where it outlined a strategy to develop the wines into a major Chilean brand and take command of the premium sector for bottles between £6 and £10. Grants of St James md John Mills said no serious Chilean brand had yet made its mark but that there were opportunities at the premium end of the market where Chile was underperforming. Veramonte has introduced new packaging for its wines which feature a Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon at £6.99 and the top of the range Primus  a blend of Carmenère, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon  at £9.99. {{DRINKS }}
