The Serious Food Company is upping the ante in chilled desserts with a trio of new products.

Hitting Waitrose chillers later this month, the newcomers are a duo of Hot Chocolate Fondant pots (rsp: £3.99 for two), and individual fruit flapjack-style crumbles in Apple and Caramel and Pear and Damson combinations, each with an rsp of £1.99. They will form part of a 15-strong range that includes Banoffee Pie, as well as more exotic recipes.

The company is hoping to expand into the thriving health and indulgence arenas. Part of the Jamaica Producers Group and previously known as Sunjuice, it manufactures about half the freshly-squeezed orange juice on UK supermarket shelves, as well as smoothies. It also acquired soup, sauce and ready meal producer Simply Organic last November.

It plans to bring out a range of chilled soups under its brand banner later in the year, as a complement to the Simply Organic range. Pasta sauces and ready meals are also on the cards.
