China needs to further improve its fish processing traceability to meet upcoming EU regulations, according to a new report.

Although China had made considerable progress, it still needed to implement a single integrated traceability system to meet new EU laws demanding catch certificates for exported fish, claimed wildlife trade monitoring network Traffic.

Large volumes of fish imported to the UK from Asia are processed in China. The new law, which comes into force in January 2010, is being set up to combat illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing.
