Unwins has slashed the number of tobacco lines it sells by half as part of a wider move to focus on core products.
Delisted cigarette brands include Gallaher’s Camel and Mayfair Superkings and Imperial Tobacco’s Richmond Superkings Menthols and John Player White.
Philip Morris’s Lucky Strike brand and British American Tobacco’s premium Dunhill brand are other casualties.
The range is now 22 cigarette lines, four handrolling, four cigar and five sundry lines. The earlier range featured 65 lines.
The retailer said its ranges of wines, spirits, beer and other secondary products would receive the treatment next.
Unwins said in a statement: “We will ensure we maintain high levels of availability on these lines.”
The company indicated that a supply dispute with Palmer & Harvey had been resolved and the wholesaler was meeting its new strategy.
