Tesco is to unveil a host of new brands in the coming weeks, as Philip Clarke bids to give fresh momentum to the supermarket’s UK business.
The new brands would join the likes of City Kitchen, Saucy Fish Co and Yoo yoghurts in food, as well as clothing line Florence & Fred and Technika in electricals.
The move to create what Clarke called “highly valued brands” was part of a new global strategy outlined today in the company’s latest annual report.
“By building strong brands through our own products, we offer customers increased value, choice and quality,” said the supermarket's chief executive, who took the helm in March.
“Customers trust our brands. They are loyal to our brands because they know what to expect from them and what they stand for.”
