South African wine producer Cloof has launched a Bordeaux-style wine, which was created using key grape varieties Cabernet Franc, Merlot and small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Oscar Foulkes of Cloof said: "Our winemaker , Christopher van Dieren, trained in Bordeaux and believes that Cabernet Franc is the key component in holding this blend together, hence its new name - Lynchpin." Lynchpin 2005 is available from importer Magnum Fine Wines, priced at £105 per bottle. This is the first time the fine French wine specialist has featured a South African wine in its portfolio.
