Doug Clydesdale has been promoted to managing director ­ brands and sales ­ at Carlsberg-Tetley and takes up his position next month. Clydesdale, formerly head of marketing and take-home sales, will be responsible for all marketing and the sales divisions of both the on-trade and off-trade. The consolidation of marketing and sales within one post is in recognition of changes within the trade. His appointment follows the early retirement of Bernie Ray, managing director of on-trade business. Clydesdale joined Carlsberg-Tetley as marketing director in January 1998 and his responsibilities were extended to the off-trade in May 1999. He helped revitalise core brands through strong advertising campaigns and high profile sponsorship deals.
