A co-operative of 50 producers from the Canary Islands has been named overall champion at the World Cheese Awards, which was held for the first time outside the UK in Dublin last week. The Sociedad Canaria de Formento took the award for its Arico curado pimentón cheese, which is made using Canary Islands goats milk and animal rennet, pressed and brushed with paprika and gofia. The UK’s best performer was a Stilton from Colston Bassett, which narrowly missed out on a spot in the top four.
