The Co-operative Group has boosted its seafood range with the launch of 17 new own-label fish lines. The society is targeting the barbecue and picnic market with many of the new products, which will be in chillers in time for summer. They include four new lines in the Truly Irresistible premium range - tuna and cod loin steaks, ready-t0-eat jumbo king prawns and Scottish salmon burgers. All the new lines have been responsibly sourced, it stressed. The yellowfin tuna steaks were from line-caught Indian Ocean tuna, while the cod loins were line-caught in Icelandic water, and fishcakes flavoured with lemon and parsley were made from MSC pollock, it said. In the Ready to Eat range it has introduced North Atlantic prawns, king prawns, smoked Scottish salmon and prawn cocktail, and Naturally Healthy hake and haddock fillets are also being launched. The new lines add to a range that already includes hot smoked trout and honey roast salmon.
