Cockburn's port is to get its first website as owner Beam Global Spirits & Wine looks to modernise the brand and bring in new drinkers.

The website will form part of a campaign entitled A Fine Disregard for The Rules, which aims to dispel the traditional etiquette surrounding port.

"As the UK's number one port it is our responsibility to lead the port category into the 21st century," said brand manager Janice Moorfield. "We want to encourage consumers to enjoy port on a variety of occasions, not just after a formal dinner with cheese."

The website will include suggestions for food and port matching such as LBV port with chocolate desserts and tawny port with swordfish and chorizo.

It forms part of a £2m investment in the brand this year, including a new look revealed last month. "The campaign is about challenging category conventions and is designed to engage a younger audience of 30-something men," said Moorfield.
