Fruit supplier Norman Collett has upped production of the Rubens apple variety by 275% this season after strong sales in its UK debut season last year.

This season's crop is anticipated to reach three million apples some 2.2 million more than last year according to Norman Collet, which owns the exclusive marketing rights in the UK.

"The unique flavour and crunch are exactly what British consumers want as well as it being grown in Kent," said business development manager Sarah Calcutt. Rubens is available this month in Tesco, Booths and The Co-op.
