Cadbury re-asserts itself this week to reclaim the top position in the chart, forcing Nestlé down one place to number two. Both brands use multibuy offers and price promotions on confectionery aimed at the Christmas market. Multibuy offers are used predominantly on selection boxes and boxed chocolates, while the price promotion is employed on tinned confectionery.
Walkers remains stable in third place and continues to occupy a good share of space in-store. Gondola ends are frequently used to highlight the promotions, which tend to focus on multibuy offers on sharing/big bags, while there are a number of price promotions on multipacks.
Coca-Cola, Mars and Stella Artois all re-enter the chart after an absence of one week. Coca-Cola focuses almost exclusively on multibuys and bogof offers, making good use of gondola ends.
Heinz, Budweiser, Jacob’s and Uncle Ben’s all move down the chart, with the biggest drop for Heinz, which last week was in second place.
