Coffee prices have made another leap upwards amid concerns about next year’s Brazilian crop. Unseasonal rain has given rise to fear of early flowering, which could damage bean production next year.
Prices also rose because Brazilian coffee trader Terra Forte downgraded its crop estimate for this year. Severe drought early in 2014 affected crops.
UK gas prices are up month on month. There is growing fear Russia may retaliate against Western sanctions by restricting gas supply. By contrast, electricity prices continue to fall because of lower demand.
Barley, maize and wheat prices are falling as good harvests are anticipated on both sides of the Atlantic.
