Despite a slight decline month on month, Norwegian cod prices are still up year on year following bad weather at the start of 2015. Although catches have improved since, demand has kept prices high.
Norwegian coldwater prawn prices also remain high compared with last year but are relatively flat month on month. The year on year price hike is due to low quotas for coldwater prawns in Canada keeping supplies tight.
Norwegian haddock prices are experiencing their seasonal fall, though prices remain up on last year as a result of tight supplies and high demand.
Salmon prices in Norway are also decreasing. Warm sea temperatures in Norway have increased salmon growth rates and boosted slaughter weights. As a result, production for the first quarter of 2015 is set to be far higher than expected.
In the UK, plaice prices are dropping substantially. This is due to increased quota prompting higher landings.
