With prices still massively down year on year, the potato market remains at low levels across the EU, with UK prices down further month on month. This latest drop in value comes as estimates for 2014 EU potatoes volumes have risen 1.5 million tonnes year on year to 28.6 million tonnes.
Tomato prices are also decreasing, falling sharply in the aftermath of the usual increase during the Christmas period. Prices are set to rise again following winter weather conditions in the EU.
UK pear prices have increased month on month, with limited domestic produce levels following the end of the harvest season, and UK production set to be down 7% year on year during 2014/15. UK apple prices remain down slightly and banana prices have risen month on month.
Onion prices remain low year on year and are stable month on month following excellent growing conditions in major producing countries.
